Shooting star...
星期日, 九月 4, 2005, 09:52 PM - Friends
Last night was a lot of fun hanging out with Morgane and Zorro. We watched the movie "Million Dollar Baby" outside of Rooke Chapel. But afterward, we just lied down on the grass, and chilled out like we did the night before. I have always wanted to do that, lying down beneath the open sky and staring up at the multitudes of stars. I did that alot in my childhood, especially during the summer when the nights got really hot. There was no Air Conditioning in our house and we couldn't rely much on the fan either since the electricity was cut off frequently. So we stayed out at our yard. We got out a huge sheet, and everyone would lied on it and stared up at the sky. We had a better view at the sky because we lived in the village, so there was less light and other distractions. But it is also true that Southern hemisphere tend to see more stars compared to northern hemisphere.

The weather got a bit chilly later on through the night. My body was shivering, but I didn't want to leave. We chat on random stuffs. But for most of the time we were talking about the stars and the universe, or the alien, the time machine, and etc. We were trying to locate a few constellations. We found the little dipper, although we can't figured out where the big dipper is. My astronomy Professor would have frown on me if he knew that I already forgot most of the astronomy I learned last semester ^^.

There was a couple times Morgane got really excited when she said she saw the shooting stars. I didn't saw any for sure, even though I was staring for the last few hours.

It got really cold close to 2am, so we decided to move over to the Smith's lounge. Morgane brought down her blanket. The room was still cold, but at least it was much better than when we were at outside. I don't think we really talked about much stuffs while we were there. But we stayed over till 3:30am in the morning.

I definitely have fun last night :-)

The curiousness of my name
星期一, 七月 25, 2005, 09:57 PM - General
I'm always curious to know how many people out there actually has the same exact name as mine. One of the girls that I will met at DLP 2005 said her dad has the same first name as mine, although I doubt we will have the same characters. But Li jian Zhong is definitely not a common name, or least I thought so.

My dad said he got my name from a famous chinese politican at the time. I still don't know who he is and have not read anything about him. Maybe I should have go read up on him. But for whatever reason, I did a search on my name again. This time I looked carefully; google has found 2000 entries that has my whole name in chinese character. Wow!

What I found most amusing is that there are a whole spectrum of people that has my name. There are doctors, Insurance salers, writers, professors, movie directors, police officers, governors, government officials, even thieves, heroes and many others. And then there's me, a computer science engineer. It doesn't seems my name was so obscure afterward.

This reminded me of a movie that I seen although I forgot what the title of the movie was. In that movie, starring actor Jet li travels through different dimension of time to find himeself in that particular dimension. In each dimension, he has different identity. Some are good, other are bad. I felt just like that, having mutliple identity. Except of-course we all look different. :-)

It's great to know that my name has some significances in the history of time. At least it makes me feel great about my name a bit now. Cheers~

Second Day at Jenn's House
星期日, 七月 24, 2005, 10:01 PM - Friends
I was surprised I didn't slept over today after I had slept in every other day this week. I got up some time past 8. It certainly didn't felt great to be up so early. I had two big panda eyes last time I looked at the mirror.

I'm glad we decided to stay over a little longer. Corey want to go to Sunday's church service so Jennifer went with him. Me and si Loi decided to stop by the mall so we picked out sourvenirs for friends and relatives back home. Well bad luck hits us. The mall will not opened until one 0' clock. We tried our luck on the second mall, which is about 15 minutes there. No luck there either. There was nothing else to do, so we headed back.

It was still early till Corey and Jennifer came back, so me and Si Loi took a walk around the nearby lake. That was pretty cool. The lake was pretty, just like the scene shown at the begining of the movie "The Notebook". There were elders doing fishing, some on the boat, and others sun-tanning. I also saw a lot of fish, ducks, and a turtle, hehe. I took a bunch of pics before we left.

The afternoon was more fun; we visited the stenner space center which we missed out yesterday. Jeff saved each of us a ticket by putting us on his memebership. He's awesome! :-)

The tour was okay. It didn't interested me as much as I thought I would. But I certainly enjoy the two rides. The rocket ride was the one that shoot us straight upward. I had that before, so I knew what I was expecting beforehand. But the 'G4' ride was new. The ride was amazing. We stood inside this huge pentagon cage, and they swung us around at 5x the force of gravity. I felt so much heavier all of a sudden. I can't turned my head and my hands were stiff like a robot arm. Nonetheless, that was one awesome experience.

We got out before the place was closed and went eating at a local Italian restuarant. Corey want to hit on the road soon since it will be about midnight by the time we got back to our hotel. We said Goodbye to Jennifer and Jeff shortly after our dinner. I didn't feel like leaving. I wish we have more time together. It won't be the same next time we met, since we might not be together for the same internship again. I'll miss Jenn & Jeff; And Corey and Si Loi after this week, our final week of internship.

We are visiting Jenn ^_^
星期六, 七月 23, 2005, 10:03 PM - Friends
We went to visit Jennifer & Jeff today; me, corey, and si Loi. We drove from Vicksburg Mississippi to Huntsville, Alabama. The trip took about 6 hours long, the longest drive I have been on. We left the Comfort Inn around 11 am in the morning. Partly of that was because I got up late. I was supposed to get up about eight o'clock today, so I can give my Professor a call. But I guess I was finally wore down last night after staying up most of the night past few days, I slept through my three alarms and did not woke up until Si Loi came knocking on my door. But I did managed to gave professor Meng a call afterward, and grab a quick snack before we hit on the road around 11ish.

The trip was long but went by fast. The first hour and a half, I was using my laptop in the back seat. Corey gave me a power converter so I can plug in my laptop. We found out later that the converter wasn't working actually. The whole time I was using my laptop battery, and it quickly drained out. I shut down my laptop and put it back into my backpack. The last four hours, I was reading the GRE Prep book that I bought a few weeks ago. It was boring, but I need a good score in order to nailed down top graduate school like MIT, or Carnegie Mellon. Yea, I'm a very ambitious person.

We got lost a little on our way, but we arrived shortly after 6. Jennifer was standing on the outside when we pulled in. She was smiling on us as usual. I felt great able to see Jennifer and Jeff again. They haven't changed much. Jennifer is still pretty, and kind. And Jeff's the rock-&-roll cool singer. We stay at Jenn's house for a while, then we went over to her mom's house, which is about a couple miles down the road.

Jenn's parent has a huge house that is about the size of a mansion. It is the biggest house I have yet visited. We met Jennifer's mom, and her two daughters: Rose and Isabella. Jenn has a nice family; her daughters are really cute too. :-) We had a pizza party; afterward, we watched Miss Congeniality 2 together.

We went over to Jenn's house around midnight to pick up stuffs we left over there. Jennifer showed us the cool studio she had. There are book collection, computers, guitars, piano, and other band equipments; It is the kind of studio that I would like to have too. Jenn's played us the song that Jeff wrote and sang for his band; then she started playing piano and singing herself. Both Jennifer and Jeff are fabulous singers for sure. I remembered last summer when we were at Six Flag, New Orleans, Jeff and Jenn were singing on stage for a long time. They even attracted scores of people over .

The musics Jenn played were absolutely beautiful. She told me she wrote her first piece when she was thirteen, and wrote several others since then. I wish she had at least recorded them or wrote down her music, because then I would be able to listen to them again. I absolutely love what she was playing; they are the songs of love, tender, lost, and hope. Although certainly they are not the kind of musics that I would expect to wrote by a teenage girl. One thing for sure though, her song made me felt like I was closer to her.

Oh, the really best part: I got to sleep on Jennifer's bed. Yay!! ^_^ She had it up til she was 17; it is Rose's room now. Jenn said the bed was the most comfortable one; I guess I'll find out after tonight. :-) Jennifer herself is sleeping with Isabella in the big room in the back.

A good day!! :-)
